We have stayed in A17 before. It is like the perfect place to stay. Location is excellent, well maintained and supplied. Great views of the ocean and pool, close to downtown, easy to get into and out of, just right for a nice stay on the island.
The Kona Reef is in an ideal location and the unit was clean and nice. The problem was with the location of the unit, A-17. I was concerned before renting and my concerns were correct. It was right above the pool area. That wasn't a problem during the day but at night people think they can talk as loud as they want for as long as they can. In addition, people were hopping the fence at night, splashing around in the pool as loud as they could and making lots of noise with security always 10 minutes late. If you called security after 10 PM they wonder what was your reason for calling (NOISE), your unit number (WHY?) and your name. If your name was Don they ask how to spell it??? REALLY???? This was NOT a good unit location. People, in general, are just too inconsiderate and do not have any concern for others in the area. Would not recommend this unit to anyone just due to the location near the pool.
OVERALL THE UNIT WAS GREAT. I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE REQUESTED TO LEAVE THE DISHES WASHED IN THE DISHWATER AND ALL THE TOWELS WASHED THERE WERE ONLY THREE DISHWASHER TABS AND 1/2 CUP OF LAUNDRY SOAP. PREVIOUSLY WE HAD RENTED KONA REEF D-18 FROM ANOTHER COMPANY AND THERE WAS ADEQUATE SOAP, ETC. FOR THE ENTIRE STAY. FOR A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY THOSE ITEMS COULD BE SUPPLIED FOR THE RENTER. NATURALLY, THEY WERE USED UP AFTER A FEW DAYS AND WE HAD TO PURCHASE BOTH SOAPS IN ORDER TO LEAVE EVERYTHING AS REQUESTED AND ENDED UP LEAVING THE EXCESS IN THE UNIT. ALSO, IT WAS CLEAN EXCEPT FOR THE FLOOR. WE WORE WHITE SOCKS IN THE HOUSE AND THEY WERE BLACK WHEN WE TOOK THEM OFF EACH DAY. I DID NOT CALL ABOUT THAT AS WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THE SOAPS I WAS JUST TOLD THAT WAS THE WAY IT WAS.
The location cannot be beat, close to town and oh so convenient. Love all the "extras" like ice chest and boogie board, beach towels and island homey feel.
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Kona Reef A17! The condo was just the right size, good condition and nicely stocked. the hardwood floors are nice touch (though the sea air makes them a little slippery with young kids). The beds were pretty comfortable. The kitchen amenities are relatively new and had anything we needed. Some improvements...where's the internet? Many of the condos have wireless internet, but not A17. Kind of a bummer--it'd be nice to research activities & restaurants online. Also, there is no stereo to listen to our beloved KAPA FM--you'll have to bring your own iPod dock. Overall, Kona Reef is a great place, WE LOVED IT!! We're planning on renting this unti again for our next trip to Kona.
The location was the best - direct ocean front. Thank you so much for sharing your home with our family, your condo is very nice and made for a great vacation. Accommodations were perfect, everything you needed for a perfect vacation. Large unit with two full baths, perfect when travelling with a teen, kitchen was very nice and well equipped and furnishings tasteful. Location was absolutely the best and in walking distance to downtown Kona (shopping), snorkeling and beaches. Enjoyed the sunsets, listening to the surf, watching the surfers and visits from sea turtles. Cleanliness could be improved, such as cabinet fronts and handles as well as small appliances, as they were dirty and sticky. Happy to say though that management was understanding and polite said the issue would be taken care of immediately. Did have issue with rust stains on clothes from washer but again I am happy to say management were prompt in addressing and resolving the problem and talked with us in person and even communicated with us thru email upon our return home that the problem had been found and was being corrected. Management at Prince Properties (specifically Ann and Cathy)were very friendly, polite and accommodating. They thanked us for our communication so that the issue could be resolved quickly and even corresponded with us on our return home that the problem had been found and resolved. I would definitely recommend the unit and will be visiting again in the near future. As a side note the Kona Reef complex and grounds are kept meticulous, pool, chairs, and grills were cleaned daily.
We rented this condo for 10 days in May after a thorough internet search. Prince Properties did an excellent job. The photo tour was right on and we did not have any last minute glitches.
We loved our stay at A17. The location was perfect and we had a great view of all the action on the ocean. Everyone who visited us during the stay thought it was terrific. In fact, we liked it so much we have already booked it for next year and are looking forward to going back.
Large, bright, well located....nice walk into Kona.
